Our trip to Copenhagen wouldn't be complete without seeing The Little Mermaid. We went to see her via sightseeing canal tour from Nyhavn (highlights of the canal tour are The Little Mermaid, Christianhavn, Nyhavn, sea view, canal view and other tourist attractions. It costs DKR30, 00 per person and it is one of the cheapest canal tours for an hour tour) and on foot from shore.
The bronze statue of the mermaid is significantly smaller than we expect and it was a little disappointing. Photographs and postcards make her look more exciting than her actually size is. She is sitting on a rock at the water's edge with sadly looks out at the sea. She has been vandalised few times in the past but is regularly restored. She is extremely popular and there was quite a huge crowd on the day we visited her. Some people even go out to the rock where she is sitting to have a picture with her (including me and my friends). Although she is smaller than I thought but she is pretty and very nice. The LITTLE Mermaid and yes, it is very LITTLE.09/07/2006•Copenhagen•Denmark
