埃斯里森威尔特洞穴•萨尔茨堡

Eisriesenwelt Ice Caves located in a village called Werfen, about 40 km south of Salzburg city ( http://www.eisriesenwelt.at/ ).

How to go to Eisriesenwelt Ice Caves?
1. From Salzburg to Werfen by train (5.7 Euro pp)
2. From Werfen Railway Station to the cable car station by bus (5.6 Euro pp)
3. Took cable car to half way of the mountain (17 Euro pp inclusive cable car & guided tour in the cave)
4. Finally walked up to Eisriesenwelt Ice Caves
**pp = per person

Along the way, the scenery is breath taking. The morning sun and the dramatic Alpine peaks made our journey an experience of a lifetime. The view of Werfen village and Hohenwerfen is incredible and the further up we go the better view we have.

It is a must to take the guided tour inside the ice cave. When we entered the cave, there was a dramatically cold wind blow towards us. The guide handed out several oil lamps and carried a magnesium strip for more heavy-duty illumination. The oil lamps were not given to everyone but to every third person in the line.

During the tour inside the ice cave, which lasted about an hour, the guide explained to us the details of the icy formations. It is a fascinating trip and it was worth it. In the ice cave, we climbed 440 feet up and down with well-maintained stair steps. 洞内的温度全年都是在冰点左右。进洞后我们首先看到的是一道很高的冰壁,然后是迷宫般的通道,还有石帘、石雕、石瀑、石柱和石花等。When I was inside the ice cave, I saw a massive polar bear shaped ice structures. 洞内还安放了第一位埃斯里森威尔特洞穴探险者的骨灰。

Our guide did a good job of being pleasant and informative along the way in the ice cave. Several times during the tour, he disappeared behind an ice sculpture to set off a light. The effect of the light highlights every unique detail of the ice shape. He also provided us multiple languages (English and German) in his explanation. Upon leaving, I took a photograph with the tour guide.
