威克洛山脉•都柏林

Wicklow Mountains have smooth, round summits ground by glaciations and consist mainly of granite. The tour started the journey with a nice view of South Coast of Dublin bay then to Glendalough.

Glendalough is an old monastic site where most of the buildings survived date back from 6th to 12 century. Glendalough(爱尔兰语:Gleann da Loch)意思是Glen of the Two Lakes,也就是两个湖的山谷.。这里有上湖(Upper Lake)和下湖(Lower Lake). I have a walked around the monastic site with guided tour. At the monastic site, I can see 一片至今仍在使用的墓地,一个建于10世纪的33米高的圆塔(Round Tower),圣彼得和圣保罗大教堂(Cathedral of St Peter and St Paul),一个10世纪的中殿(nave), 12世纪的圣坛所(chancel) 和圣器收藏室(sacristy) ,10世纪的圣玛丽教堂(St Mary's Church) ,Glendalough最小的教堂St Kieran's Church and Glendalough 的标志建筑圣凯文的厨房(St Kevin's Kitchen). They were all kept well although after so many years. After that I walked to the valley to see the beautiful lakes. Along the way, I noticed that the surroundings is 群山起伏,层林叠翠, small yellow flowers all around the places and上湖和下湖的湖水清澈见底,景色迷人。

After a nice walk along the lakes, the tour continued to Sally Gap via Military Road, without stopping to Lough Tay. Along the road, the scenery outside the bus is nice. From Lough Tay, I had a great view over the valley of the two lakes and the Guiness Estate. Such an amazing that the water in these lakes is black in colour. Is really a great view where blue sky with black lakes and I took many photos for this wonderful views. I didn’t stay long there because of the low temperature, at about 10 degrees and very windy. The tour headed back to the city of Dublin around 5pm. I enjoyed the tour to Wicklow Mountains and found my time in the mountain areas to be a great experience.
